Pete & Anita met through a mutual friend and got married at the gorgeous Casita Miro on Waiheke Island. A few words from Anita…….
I’ve grown up on Waiheke Island my entire life so it was important for me to get married over here surrounded by all my friends and family on my home turf. The island means so much to both of us, that eventually we’ll hope to settle down here. Peter is from Sweden, so he has created a special place for Waiheke as it’s now his home as much as it is mine. Casita Miro is a venue on Waiheke that we’d have date nights, we love the stunning atmosphere and tapa style food.
We had about 13 international guests and around 30 from all over NZ, the rest were locals. We had great response afterwards. Some saying it was the most intimate and homely wedding they’ve ever attended. Waiheke Island is so down to earth I think the guests can relax and have a good night. Plus a few of our guests stayed on a few days and enjoyed the Waiheke way of life.
I had a lot of standout Waiheke Wedding suppliers! Firstly I LOVED my flowers. Virginia Thompson and her staff did an amazing job with my bridesmaids posies and my bouquet. Everything was as I imagined they would be. For our colour scheme, I chose soft pastel hues – blush pink & light greens, with gold to highlight. With the help of flowers we filled the venue with colour, making it feel homely & inviting for our guests. I also incorporated succulent plants from my Grandfather’s garden into the decor.
Being an Art Director photography was a big thing for me, the reason I chose Photography by Lauretta was she knows how to capture people and moments. I think it’s important to capture the in-between moments as well as the planned ones. It’s important to have someone with a good eye that puts that little bit extra into every shot and sees the details.
Sophia from My Waiheke took away all the stress and perfected every little detail in her styling.
Anita’s wedding budget must have:
(1) A good photographer. Pay the price for an excellent one since this is how you will remember your day for years to come. You need someone who you feel will capture the day in the best way possible.
(2) Have good food since people will remember what you give them to eat!
(3) Get a stylist and take the stress off yourself. They’ll take your ideas and make them a reality.
(4) Have plenty of flowers. Flowers make everything just that little bit better! Stunning colours and sweet smells make it truly feel like a wedding.
